The characters, places, objects, events,…..Hogwarts Houses, etc. They are very real to us die-hard HP fans and we will be dedicated for life. It’s hard to identify with unless you are one of us. Every house has both its pros and cons. I’m a Ravenclaw; we’re very inquisitive and want to learn everything, but we can be a little too shallow ((I guess)) and take things too seriously sometimes. Hufflepuffs are very sweet, kind people. Basically if there’s a perfect, non-flawed person you know who you could cuddle with 24/7, that’s a Hufflepuff. I think that’s an achievement in itself. It just sucks that JKR didn’t really make Hufflepuffs (or Ravenclaws, for that matter) more important in the series, and explore more characters in each house.
And, to the song. The band has an artistic license, and I’m sure a lot of people agree with the sentiments. However, it’s mean to pin down Hufflepuffs who, surely, are the nicest of people, and probably the most loyal of friends!
I’m a Ravenclaw, but some of my best friends are Hufflepuffs! They’re particularly good finders, dontcha know. A better song for them is “For All The Hufflepuffs” by the Remus Lupins.

Mkay, first of all I just wanna say that this little tidbit made me giggle a lot…Even though I’m a Hufflepuff.
Now, onto the idiotic arguments going on down here…Hufflepuff deserves just as much recognition as any of the other houses. Even if all they got were the leftovers (which I don’t believe) that’s still important. Even people who aren’t particularly brave, intelligent, or ambitious can have great attributions to society. Loyalty, if you think about it, is what actually allowed Harry to defeat Voldemort. If Hermione or Ron had not been loyal (as well as brave) friends, than Harry never would have managed to defeat him. A’cause, let’s face it, Harry is pretty useless on his own.

You can be a good friend, hard-working, have good instincts, artistic, musical (those two can be classed as intelligence but I don’t think they should be, they’re nothing to do with facts or figures), and friendly. Anybody Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor or Slytherin can be any of these. And our house colours are the colours for unity, whether JK meant it or not.

Okay, that was just mean. Hufflepuff is an OK House, really. All the Houses are great, really: Gryffindors are brave, daring and chivalrous; Ravenclaws are smart and intelligent; Hufflepuffs are loyal, friendly and hard-working (the latter being a good thing, by the way).
And, of course, Slytherins are cunning, ambitious and determined, and we are of course the coolest people on the planet. It’s not true that all Slytherins are evil, you know: look at Andromeda Tonks and professor Slughorn. And lots found that evil isn’t the way to go: the Malfoys, Severus and Regulus, for example. So stop judging Slytherins.

Books aside in the real world we all pretty much choose our own houses (unless you lock yourself into a online sorting quiz) so why would you put yourself into a house that wasn’t totally awesome?
Real life Hufflepuffs are like the books said loyal, just, honest, and hard working but they are also pretty much the chillest people on earth (work hard play harder), they are hilarious, caring, non-judgmental and accepting of everyone, and if you have a hufflepuff friend they are probable one of the truest people you will ever have the pleasure of having for a friend.

Oh! Never mind you! Hufflepuff is the best house ever created by the Four. We are proud of ourselves, and have power, loyalty AND Cedric Digory. We have all the traits of ALL the houses put together. We will never be defeated! And the first years- poof- they’re just excited to be in Hogwarts, not scared to be in Hufflepuff. Helga Hufflepuff was a fair minded witch with a positive attitude about everyone- even Muggles. I proudly walk in the same house as Tonks, and will proudly follow after Helga. If you think that then you are woefully ignorant of life.
Maybe these qualities constitute the majority of people who are famous, remembered for their powerful deeds. And are these people better? Are they the true heroes? Not necessarily. Because the true heroes, the good men and women in the world, they aren’t up there where everyone can see their faces. They are modest. They work hard, and are happy to stay in the background. They stand by their friends. They are not prejudiced, they are fair. They are the Hufflepuffs. The qualities that make up a Hufflepuff are some of the most important, and woefully undervalued qualities that can make up a human being.
The statement ‘there aren’t any good people in Hufflepuff’ shows a pathetic misunderstanding of the word ‘good’. Good, my friends does not mean ‘great’ or ‘famous’, or ‘rich’ or ‘powerful’ or ‘amazingly smart/talented’. It means what it says on the can, dudes. GOOD. IT MEANS GOOD.

I don’t think it’s right to hate on any of the Houses. They are all a part of Hogwarts, so none of them can be all bad. Well, some of them have bad Wizards emerge, but that is not because of the House, it is because of the individual. Each House has had some awesome characters, and I’m sure there were many more we didn’t know about. It’s not like Jo could write about every single character from every single House, but if she did, I’m sure we would appreciate all of the Houses even more!
Still, I do not think Jo would appreciate all of you being so mean and ignorant toward Hufflepuffs. I don’t see why we get such a bad rap. We have a lot of good values, we actually fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, and we’re probably the best friends you could ever have.
So please stop hating on us. One of the main themes of Harry Potter is the power of love, so please, you guys, stop acting like Death Eaters and actually spread the love!

I really should stop reading this its just getting me fired up but I would just like to say that the houses aren’t really hat different. there are Gryffindor with Ravenclaw qualities(Hermione’s smarts) and Ravenclaws with Gryffindor qualities( Luna’s bravery) all the houses are very similar. also Hufflepuffs are (though i do not count myself among them)just as good as the other houses i mean Helga Hufflepuff bewitched the moving staircases, if that isn’t brilliant i don’t know what is. also other Hufflepuffs including Cedric and Tonks died like true heroes protecting their family and friends (in Tonks’ case) and protecting their values (in Cedric’s case).

I have no idea what house I’m in and won’t until I get into pottermore (just so you know). People are going to take this seriously, HP means alot to alot of people. I think the song itself is a parody, guys… Not something to get your knickers in a twist over. If you had bothered to actually interpret the story and look at the themes and symbolism deeply embedded, one of the obvious ones is prejudice. She shows this through the houses and at the end interhouse relationships appear to be strong. Well, first im going to say that my english suck. Second, that I´m a true hufflepuff (and I considered myself as one before i was sorted into hufflepuff on pottermore too), and of course I think Hufflepuff is the best house. But honestly I think everybody consider their own house as the best, and I accept that.

The real reason they are considered as the worst house in the books I think is that hufflepuffs doesn’t brag. All Gryffindors always pester about how brave they are, all slytherins about their ambition and the ravenclaws about their intelligence! Hufflepuffs doesn’t brag about anything and are therefore seen as the ones that isn’t brave nor ambitious nor intelligent just because they concentrate on being good friends than being sure everyone knows exactly how many points you got on a test, how many deatheaters they fought or how long time thay used to studie each day.
As I really have pointed out everyone conseder their house as the best one, and that’s why gryffindor seem to be the best house if you read the book (because harry is a gryffindor).
But what makes me really sad now is that one of my best friends has been sorted into slytherin on pottermore. I don’t mind that, actually, I have always considered her as a slytherin and I have nothing against slytherins. But before pottermore she said she thought she was a hufflepuff and that hufflepuff probably was the best house. Now she’s like “Hufflepuffs suck!” just because she’s a slytherin! I’d just like to say one thing to the writers (though I realise they’ve stopped replying to comments: for ravenclaws you sure seem to be ignorant of the laws of discourse: namely: Poe’s law. Now, obviously Poe’s Law doesn’t *quite* fit this situation since it’s generally reserved for Fundamentalism, but the broader logic still applies. It can be very difficult to tell the difference between a parody of an existent opinion and the opinion itself.
Take also the terms of social justice discourse, about why certain off-colour jokes are usually regarded as not actually funny – because for every person who says the insult in a joking or ironic manner, there’s at least one person who actually means it.
The Hufflepuffs are getting so defensive because we’ve heard this all said to us sincerely so much that the “it’s just a joke” defense has stopped sounding even remotely comforting, and in fact tends to only serve to make us more annoyed.
To all those who commented that justice and loyalty and patience and honesty and hard work aren’t useful qualities, I would argue that they are actually extremely useful qualities, and not just for being a mundane person who doesn’t stand out – having patience and valuing honesty and hard work, and being tolerant of and caring for a diversity of personality types actually makes for a really good mix of leadership qualities.
Also consider that Helga Hufflepuff’s opinion that she would take the lot rather than only pick students with a certain quality was an example of her sense of fairness and justice. Certainly it means Hufflepuff house may as a whole appear to be the place for underachievers, but simply because Hufflepuffs tend to value the collective over the individual (a trait that Slytherin also shares to a small extent, with its propensity for an us-vs-them mindset) does not mean every single Hufflepuff is going to be weak and stupid and cowardly and unambitious. Every house has its Peter Pettigrews and Zacharias Smiths, just as every house has its Harry Potters and NymphadoraTonkses.
In short, the joke of this song fell flat, the lyrics weren’t sufficiently witty to clearly delineate them as a satire, and Hufflepuff is just as good of a house as the other three.

I’m in Gryffindor. Not all of the Gryffindors are always brave, you can see Petter Pettigrew. Ravenclaws are intelligent, how about Gilderoy Lockhart?. Slytherins have the stereotype of being shady with dark intentions, but that’s not always true, what about Merlin and Snape?. And Hufflepuffs are known as the losers and loners and the dim-witted, but can you see Tonks and Cedric Diggory?
I’m a Hufflepuff and I love this poem, it’s well done and very funny. It was the highlight of my week to come back from uni and be greeted by my little sister reciting the whole poem to me! House hate is like sports hate – not real hate and makes everything much more fun!
