Origin

This is a story tale-twisting with fate
Frowned upon by some they may say
That is truth
That is luck
That is cruel destiny
It was written in moonlight that this was meant to be

Father walks holding his young son’s hand
Over cobble-stoned street lamp, they encounter a man
He is grim
He is gaunt
A hungry look in his eye
“Mr. Lupin” He snarls, “Odd we should meet tonight.

Assaulted me once
And vexed me twice
I’ll be a muggle if you offend me thrice.
So step aside, I see your wide-eyed boy
And he desires a bite
He desires a bite.”

These are the last words
I hear before it all goes black
Why should I–
Why should I–
Why should I–
Why should I falter?
Why should the young be punished for the sins of the father?

So soon at school, I made new good friends
I hit it out, but they’d understand
There was Prongs and Padfoot and a rat in our midst
Though, I never dreamt that it would come to this

We played pranks on many and adventured through that
We created a perfect Marauders’ Map
We were the brightest wizards of our time
And everyday we strove to cross the line
I’m about to cross the line

These are the last words
I scream before it all goes black
Why should I–
Why should I–
Why should I–
Why should I falter?
Why should the young be punished for the sins of the father?

Hold me back cause I don’t want to be this (anymore anymore)
Hold me back cause I don’t want to go howling (anymore anymore)
Hold me back cause I don’t want to fear the moonlight (anymore anymore)
Hold me back cause I don’t want to be too dangerous (anymore)

This was amazingly beautiful… just like Remus. I am Remus’s adoring fan and this is exactly what he deserves.

I think this song works better as a poem. The lyrics are just so strong.
